What months does the sightseeing season operate?

The Sunshine Village sightseeing season typically operates from late June through late September each year. During this period, visitors can ride the Sunshine Village Sightseeing Gondola into the alpine, explore Sunshine Meadows, and, when operating, continue to the summit on the Standish Chairlift.

Late June marks the beginning of the season as the snow begins to melt from the higher elevations. Some trails may still have patches of snow, but the alpine landscape starts to come alive with fresh greenery and early wildflowers.

July and August are the peak summer months and the most popular time to visit. This is when Sunshine Meadows is at its most vibrant, with colourful wildflower displays, clear hiking trails, and excellent opportunities for sightseeing, photography, and wildlife viewing.

September offers a quieter experience with cooler temperatures and crisp mountain air. The wildflowers have mostly faded, but the alpine scenery remains spectacular, and hints of autumn colour begin to appear across the landscape. Visitor numbers are generally lower, making it a peaceful time to explore.

Once the summer sightseeing season ends in late September, the resort transitions toward its winter operations. The sightseeing gondola is no longer available for summer visitors as the mountain prepares for the ski and snowboard season.
