Is there food at the top?

Yes. One of the unique features of the Mt. Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift is that you can enjoy a meal at the Cliffhouse Bistro, a historic mountaintop restaurant located at the top of the chairlift. Originally built in 1956 as Canada's first North American-style ski lodge, the Cliffhouse has been restored into a cozy alpine bistro that combines mountain history with spectacular scenery.

The bistro serves a selection of light meals, sandwiches, soups, salads, snacks, desserts, and hot and cold beverages. Whether you're looking for a quick coffee, a leisurely lunch, or simply a place to relax after exploring the summit, it offers a comfortable setting with panoramic mountain views.

One of the highlights of dining at the Cliffhouse is its outdoor patio. During the summer months, visitors can enjoy food and drinks while overlooking the Bow Valley and the surrounding peaks. It is one of the most scenic outdoor dining locations in the Banff area and provides an excellent opportunity to linger and take in the alpine atmosphere.

Indoor seating is also available, making it a pleasant place to warm up on cooler days or escape a passing mountain shower. The historic building retains much of its original character, giving visitors a glimpse into Mt. Norquay's early days as one of Canada's pioneering ski destinations.

Food service is generally available only during the sightseeing chairlift's operating season and during the bistro's scheduled opening hours. Because weather and special events can occasionally affect operations, it's a good idea to check operating hours before your visit if dining at the summit is part of your plans.
