How many mountain ranges are visible?

On a clear day, you can see at least six major mountain ranges from the summit of Sulphur Mountain, along with dozens of individual peaks extending across the horizon. The exact number depends on visibility, weather, and how broadly the surrounding subranges are counted, but the panorama is among the most expansive in Banff National Park.

The summit's elevation of 2,281 metres (7,486 feet) provides an almost uninterrupted 360-degree panorama. Looking north, east, south, and west reveals wave after wave of rugged Rocky Mountain ridges stretching for many kilometres. On exceptionally clear days, the view extends well beyond the immediate Banff area, making it one of the best mountain viewpoints in the Canadian Rockies.
