How long is the Standish Chairlift ride?

The Standish Sightseeing Chairlift ride takes approximately 8 minutes each way. During the ascent, the chairlift climbs from Sunshine Village to the upper slopes of Mount Standish, offering increasingly expansive views as you rise above the alpine meadows.

Unlike the enclosed sightseeing gondola, the Standish Chairlift is an open-air experience, allowing you to enjoy unobstructed views of the surrounding mountains, fresh alpine air, and the peaceful atmosphere of the high country. As you travel higher, you'll have excellent views of Sunshine Meadows, rugged mountain peaks, and the valleys stretching into the distance.

Once you reach the top, a short and easy walk leads to the Standish Viewing Deck, where some of the finest panoramic views in Banff National Park await. From the viewpoint, you can look out over turquoise alpine lakes, colourful wildflower meadows during the summer, and a seemingly endless landscape of mountain ranges in every direction.

Although the ride itself is relatively short, most visitors spend considerably longer at the summit. Many take time to enjoy the viewing deck, photograph the scenery, watch for wildlife, and explore nearby trails before riding the chairlift back down to Sunshine Village and returning to the base via the sightseeing gondola.
