Does it slow down for boarding?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Mount Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift

Does it slow down for boarding?

Yes. The Mount Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift operates at a slow boarding speed, making it easy for most visitors to get on comfortably. The chair approaches from behind at a steady pace, allowing you to sit down naturally before the safety bar is lowered.

For most passengers, the lift continues moving at its normal slow speed during boarding. However, if someone needs additional assistance-such as seniors, families with young children, first-time riders, or guests with mobility concerns-the lift operators can slow the chairlift even further or temporarily stop it. This helps ensure everyone can board safely and comfortably.

The same level of assistance is available at the upper station when it's time to get off. If needed, the operators can slow or briefly stop the lift to give passengers extra time to unload.

The staff are experienced in helping guests who may be feeling nervous or unfamiliar with chairlifts, so don't hesitate to let them know if you'd like a little extra assistance. Their goal is to make the experience safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for every visitor. Book the Mt. Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift
