Do I need restaurant reservations?

Reservations are generally recommended if you plan to dine at the Cliffhouse Bistro, especially during the peak summer season, on weekends, and on holiday weekends. The restaurant is relatively small, and its unique mountaintop location makes it one of the most sought-after dining experiences in Banff National Park.

If you're visiting during July or August and want to have lunch around midday, making a reservation is the best way to ensure you get a table. This is particularly important if you're traveling with a larger group or celebrating a special occasion.

During quieter periods, such as weekday mornings or later in the afternoon, walk-in guests are often accommodated if space is available. However, availability can never be guaranteed, particularly when weather conditions bring more visitors to the mountain.

Keep in mind that a restaurant reservation does not replace your sightseeing chairlift ticket. You'll still need a valid chairlift ticket to travel to the summit and reach the Cliffhouse Bistro.

If you only plan to stop for a coffee, dessert, or a quick snack, you may have more flexibility, but there can still be a wait during busy periods if the bistro is at capacity.
