Can you see the Bow Valley?
Yes. The Bow Valley is one of the main highlights of the view from the top of the Mount Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift. From the upper station, you'll enjoy a sweeping panorama across the valley, giving you a remarkable perspective of one of Banff National Park's most beautiful landscapes.
Looking out from the mountain, the Bow Valley stretches for many kilometres in both directions. Dense evergreen forests blanket the valley floor, while the winding Bow River flows through the landscape below. The elevated viewpoint makes it easy to appreciate the immense scale of the valley as it is surrounded by towering mountain ranges on every side.
The Town of Banff sits at the heart of the Bow Valley, appearing small against the dramatic backdrop of the Canadian Rockies. From above, you can clearly see how the town is nestled among forests and mountains, highlighting the unique setting that has made Banff world famous.
Several iconic peaks frame the Bow Valley from this viewpoint. Mount Rundle stretches along one side of the valley with its distinctive ridgeline, while Cascade Mountain rises prominently above the town. On clear days, numerous other mountain ranges extend into the distance, creating layers of rugged peaks that fade toward the horizon.
The Bow Valley changes dramatically with the seasons. During summer, the forests are a rich green, and the river glistens in the sunlight. In autumn, patches of golden foliage add vibrant colour to the valley floor. During winter, snow blankets the landscape, transforming the valley into a spectacular alpine scene of white forests, frozen wetlands, and snow-covered mountains.
The elevated location of Mount Norquay provides a different perspective than many other viewpoints in Banff. Instead of standing within the valley, you're looking down across it, allowing you to fully appreciate its size, its winding river, and the way the surrounding mountains shape the landscape.
For many visitors, the panoramic view of the Bow Valley is one of the most memorable parts of the Mount Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift experience. It offers a classic Canadian Rockies vista that combines mountains, forests, rivers, and the Town of Banff into one breathtaking scene.
