Can you see Mount Rundle?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Mount Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift

Can you see Mount Rundle?

Yes. Mount Rundle is one of the most prominent mountains visible from the top of the Mount Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift. Its long, rugged limestone ridgeline stretches dramatically across the skyline, making it one of the defining features of the view.

From the upper station, Mount Rundle rises above the Bow Valley with its steep cliffs and distinctive layered rock formations. Because of its size and unique shape, it is easy to recognize, even for first-time visitors to Banff. The mountain extends for several kilometres, creating an impressive backdrop to the Town of Banff below.

The view of Mount Rundle changes beautifully throughout the day. In the morning, sunlight gradually illuminates its eastern slopes, highlighting the textures and ridges of the mountain. During the late afternoon and evening, warm golden light often bathes the cliffs, creating one of the most photogenic scenes in Banff National Park.

The elevated viewpoint at Mount Norquay also provides an excellent perspective of how Mount Rundle dominates the Bow Valley. From above, you can appreciate its immense scale as it rises above forests, rivers, and the townsite, surrounded by other peaks of the Canadian Rockies.

For photographers, Mount Rundle is one of the highlights of the chairlift experience. Its dramatic profile, combined with views of Banff and the Bow Valley, creates countless opportunities for stunning landscape photographs in every season. Whether the mountain is covered in lush summer greenery, brilliant autumn colours, or fresh winter snow, it remains one of the most iconic sights visible from the top of Mount Norquay. Book the Mt.
