Are there age restrictions?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Mount Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift

Are there age restrictions?

There are no specific minimum age restrictions for riding the Mount Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift, making it an activity that can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages. Infants, toddlers, children, teenagers, adults, and seniors can all experience the chairlift, provided the resort's safety requirements are followed.

Young children who are not able to ride safely on their own must ride with a responsible adult. Lift attendants help families board and unload the chairlift, and they can slow or temporarily stop the lift if extra time is needed. The safety bar is lowered after boarding and remains in place throughout the ride.

Parents should use their own judgment when deciding if very young children are ready for the experience. The ride lasts about 10 minutes to the top and takes place on an open-air chairlift high above the ground. Children should be comfortable sitting still, following instructions, and remaining seated for the entire ride.

Older children generally enjoy the experience, especially the opportunity to look out over the Bow Valley, spot wildlife, and take in the panoramic mountain views. The slow, steady pace of the chairlift makes it a comfortable introduction to mountain lifts for many first-time riders.

If you're travelling with infants or toddlers, it's worth speaking with the lift attendants before boarding. They can explain the boarding process, answer any questions, and ensure your family is seated safely so everyone can enjoy a comfortable and memorable ride. Book the Mt. Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift
