Are the cabins wheelchair accessible?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Banff National Park's Gondolas

Are the cabins wheelchair accessible?

Yes. The Banff Gondola cabins are wheelchair accessible, and the attraction is designed to accommodate visitors with a wide range of mobility needs. The lower and upper terminals include accessible entrances, elevators, and barrier-free pathways, making it possible for many guests to enjoy the experience without climbing stairs.

The gondola cabins slow down significantly as they enter the boarding stations, allowing staff to assist guests using wheelchairs or other mobility devices. If additional boarding time is required, employees are available to help ensure passengers can board and exit safely and comfortably.

At the summit, most of the main facilities are accessible, including the observation decks, restaurants, cafés, gift shops, washrooms, and interpretive exhibits. Elevators connect the different levels of the summit complex, allowing visitors to move between indoor and outdoor viewing areas with ease.

Much of the summit boardwalk is also accessible, offering spectacular mountain views without requiring a strenuous walk. Some sections farther along the route include steeper grades or stairs leading toward Sanson's Peak, but visitors can still enjoy many of the best viewpoints without completing the entire boardwalk.

Guests with specific accessibility requirements are encouraged to let staff know when they arrive. The Banff Gondola team is experienced in assisting visitors with mobility needs and can provide guidance on the most accessible routes and facilities to help ensure an enjoyable visit for everyone.
