Are strollers allowed?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Banff National Park's Gondolas

Are strollers allowed?

Yes. Strollers are allowed at the Banff Gondola, making it a convenient attraction for families with babies and young children. The gondola and summit facilities have been designed to accommodate visitors with strollers, allowing families to enjoy much of the experience without needing to carry young children.

Strollers can be brought into the gondola cabins, which are spacious enough to accommodate most standard and compact strollers. Staff are available to assist with boarding if needed, helping families get on and off the gondola safely and efficiently.

Once at the summit, most of the public areas are stroller accessible. Elevators connect the different levels of the summit building, providing easy access to the observation decks, cafes, restaurants, gift shop, theatre, and the Above Banff Interpretive Centre. Wide walkways and accessible entrances make it easy to move throughout the main complex.

Families can also take a stroller onto much of the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk. The boardwalk is wide, smooth, and gently graded for most of its length, allowing parents to enjoy the mountain scenery while pushing a stroller. Along the route, there are numerous viewing platforms where you can stop to admire the panoramic views or take family photos.

The only section that is not stroller accessible is the final climb to Sanson's Peak. This portion of the boardwalk includes a staircase leading up to the historic Cosmic Ray Station and the highest viewpoint. Families with strollers can simply park the stroller at the bottom of the stairs or take turns walking up while another adult stays below.

Many families appreciate the availability of indoor seating, washrooms with baby-changing facilities, and cafes where they can take breaks throughout their visit. These amenities make it easy to spend several hours at the summit without feeling rushed.

Although strollers are welcome year-round, keep in mind that winter conditions can make outdoor travel more challenging. Snow, ice, or slush may make pushing a stroller along the boardwalk more difficult, so larger wheels or an all-terrain stroller can be helpful during the colder months.

Overall, the Banff Gondola is one of the most stroller-friendly mountain attractions in the Canadian Rockies, allowing families with young children to experience spectacular alpine scenery with minimal barriers. Book Banff Gondola Ride Admission
