Are reservations recommended?

Yes. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially if you plan to dine at Sky Bistro.

Sky Bistro is one of Banff's most popular restaurants, and its combination of panoramic mountain views and fine dining means tables often fill well in advance during the summer, weekends, holidays, and around sunset. Booking ahead gives you the best chance of dining at your preferred time and helps avoid long waits or disappointment if the restaurant is fully booked.

Reservations are less important for Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen because it operates as a buffet-style restaurant with greater seating capacity. However, during peak travel periods and holiday weekends, it can also become busy, so planning ahead is still a good idea.

If you're visiting the Banff Gondola during the quieter spring, autumn, or winter seasons, you may have more flexibility, but making a reservation is still the safest option if you have a specific dining time in mind.

Many visitors schedule their meal to coincide with their gondola ride. Lunch offers bright daytime mountain views, while dinner-particularly near sunset-provides one of the most memorable dining experiences in Banff as the light changes over the surrounding Rocky Mountains.
