Are pets allowed?

Banff National Park offers four major Gondola sightseeing lift experiences, each providing a unique way to experience the Canadian Rockies.

Mount Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift

Are pets allowed?

Yes. Pets are allowed at the Mt. Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift, with dogs being the most common pets visitors bring. Dogs are welcome to ride the chairlift and accompany their owners around the summit, provided they follow the mountain's pet policies.

All pets must be kept on a leash at all times. This protects wildlife, other visitors, and the pets themselves. Mt. Norquay is located within Banff National Park, where wildlife such as bears, bighorn sheep, deer, marmots, and coyotes are commonly found, making leash requirements especially important.

Pets should be well behaved and comfortable in busy public areas and on an open-air chairlift. Since the chairlift is not enclosed, animals should be calm around heights and able to remain secure throughout the ride. Owners are responsible for ensuring their pet can safely ride the lift.

At the summit, pets can accompany you while you enjoy the viewpoints and walk around the immediate summit area. They are also welcome in outdoor spaces, although they are generally not permitted inside indoor dining areas where food is served, except for certified service animals. If you're planning to visit the Cliffhouse Bistro, your pet can usually relax with you on the outdoor patio where permitted.

Owners should come prepared with water, waste bags, and anything their pet may need during the visit. The alpine environment can be cooler, windier, and more exposed than the valley below, so it's important to keep your pet comfortable and monitor them for signs of fatigue or stress.

Overall, Mt. Norquay is one of the more pet-friendly mountain sightseeing attractions in the Banff area, making it a great choice for visitors who want to share the experience with their four-legged companion. Book the Mt. Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift
